Christian Porn Addiction Help That Starts With Grace
If you've typed these words into a search bar, maybe late at night and maybe not for the first time, take a breath. You aren't the only one, and you aren't too far gone. Many followers of Jesus carry this struggle quietly, convinced that if anyone knew, they'd be rejected. The gospel says something different.
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." (Romans 8:1, KJV)
This page is for anyone who wants to stop and doesn't know where to begin. It doesn't come with a lecture or a scare campaign. It offers a few honest, grace-centered steps.
Why shame doesn't set anyone free
Shame tells you that you are the problem. Conviction tells you that something you're doing is hurting you and grieving God, and that there's a way back. Shame drives people into hiding, and hiding is often where the cycle grows strongest. Conviction draws you into the light.
Jesus didn't wait for people to clean themselves up before He came near. He ate with them, touched them, and spoke to them by name. If you belong to Him, He hasn't stepped back from you because of this.
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28, KJV)
Honest first steps
Tell God the truth. You don't need polished words. Name what's been happening and ask for help. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, KJV).
Tell one person you trust. This might be a pastor, a mature friend, a mentor, or your spouse, if that's wise and safe in your situation. Secrecy isolates, and being known by even one person can loosen its grip. "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed" (James 5:16, KJV).
Learn your hard moments. Many people find urges come at predictable times, like when they're tired, lonely, bored, stressed, or alone with a phone late at night. Noticing the pattern isn't failure. It's wisdom.
Plan what you'll do instead. Decide ahead of time: stand up, step outside, pray a short prayer, read a verse, call someone. A plan made in a calm moment is easier to follow in a hard one.
Get more help when you need it. If this feels bigger than you, or it's tangled up with depression, anxiety, trauma, or your marriage, a licensed Christian counselor and your pastor can walk with you in ways no app or article can.
When you slip
Many people who walk this road stumble along the way. A slip doesn't erase what God has been doing in you, and it doesn't make you a fraud. Get up, confess, and keep walking.
"For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again." (Proverbs 24:16, KJV)
"It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22–23, KJV)

We're building Ebenwell: Quit Porn With Grace for Christians who want to leave pornography behind without being shamed along the way. It's meant to be a quiet companion, not a judge. Here's what it includes:

- Today's verse and a short reading, so Scripture is close at hand each day.
- A private journal and urge log that stay on your device, so you can notice patterns and bring them to God.
- People I trust: save someone's name and number, and share a check-in, or that you're struggling, when you choose. Ebenwell never sends anything for you.
- A daily streak that stays put until you check in or choose a reset.
- An optional PIN or biometric lock, so your notes stay private.
