Inchly
Inchly Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 21, 2026
App: Inchly (iOS, Android, and web)
Company: Montgomery Appworks LLC, Oklahoma, USA ("we", "us")
Contact: justin@montgomeryappworks.com · support@montgomeryappworks.com
The short version
- No account and no sign-up. You can use Inchly without giving us your name, email, or phone number.
- Your tasks, routines, reminders, and mood/energy check-ins are stored on your device. We don't receive them, and they never leave your device unless you choose to export or share them.
- The one exception is AI task breakdown. When you ask Inchly to break down a task, the text you typed is sent to our server and to OpenAI, our AI provider, so the steps can be generated. That text goes without your name or any account details. We don't store it, and we don't use it for ads.
- Purchases go through Apple or Google. Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase details so your Plus access works.
- No ads, no tracking, no selling or sharing your data for advertising.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy covers the Inchly mobile apps, the Inchly web app, and the related pages at montgomeryappworks.com. Inchly is offered by Montgomery Appworks LLC, an Oklahoma limited liability company.
2. Information that stays on your device
Inchly is built to work locally first. The following is stored only on your device (in the app's local database on iOS and Android, or in your browser's storage on the web):
- Tasks, steps, and parked thoughts (distraction capture)
- Routines, templates, and reminders
- Focus session history and your weekly rhythm
- Mood and energy check-ins, tags (for example "slept well" or "took meds", which are your own notes), and optional check-in notes
- Pattern insights, which are calculated on your device from your own entries
- App settings and preferences
We cannot see, access, or recover this information. Reminders are scheduled as local notifications on your device. We don't run a server that sends them.
On mobile, sensitive data such as check-ins is stored in encrypted form using your device's secure key storage where available. On the web, data is stored in your browser. Browser storage is generally less protected than a phone app, so anyone with access to that browser profile may be able to see it. If you'd rather not keep check-ins in the web version, you can turn that off in Settings.
Because v1 has no accounts or cloud sync, deleting the app or clearing your browser data permanently deletes this information. You can also delete it anytime in Settings > Delete all data, and export a summary of your own entries in Settings > Export.
3. Information that leaves your device
a) AI task breakdown (text you choose to send)
When you tap Break it down, Inchly sends:
- the task text you typed (or dictated), and
- your chosen level of detail (the "How small?" slider)
to our backend (a server we run on Cloudflare Workers). Our backend passes the text to the OpenAI API (operated by OpenAI, L.L.C.), which uses a large language model to return suggested steps. OpenAI processes this text on our behalf as our service provider.
- No identifiers are attached. The request doesn't include your name, an email address, an account, your contacts, your location, or an advertising ID.
- Not stored by us. We process the text only to return your steps. We don't keep it in a database or logs, and we don't use it to build a profile of you.
- OpenAI. Under OpenAI's API data policies, data sent through the OpenAI API is not used to train or improve OpenAI's models by default, and we have not opted in to share data with OpenAI. OpenAI may retain API inputs and outputs, including your task text, for up to 30 days in abuse-monitoring logs to provide the service and identify abuse, after which they are removed from OpenAI's systems unless OpenAI is legally required to keep them (or longer retention is reasonably necessary to protect its services or others from harm). If OpenAI approves us for its Zero Data Retention or Modified Abuse Monitoring controls, your task text will be excluded from those logs. See OpenAI's API data controls and business data privacy pages.
- Never used for advertising and never sold.
- Your IP address. Like any internet request, your device's IP address is visible to Cloudflare and our server so a response can be sent back. We may use it briefly to prevent abuse and enforce rate limits. We don't store it with your task text or use it to identify you.
Tip: please don't type sensitive personal information (for example health details, passwords, or financial account numbers) into the AI breakdown box. You don't need to for it to work.
AI breakdown is optional. If you don't use it, or you're offline, Inchly still works and offers a simple manual step template.
b) Purchases and subscriptions
Payments are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never receive your card number or billing address. To manage Inchly Plus, we use RevenueCat, Inc., which receives:
- a random, anonymous app user ID created by the app (not your name or email)
- purchase and subscription details from Apple or Google (such as product, price, currency, purchase and renewal dates, trial status, and store transaction IDs)
- basic technical details needed to validate purchases (such as app version, platform, and country/locale)
We use this information to unlock Plus features, restore purchases, prevent fraud, and understand overall subscription numbers (for example, how many people start a trial). RevenueCat processes this information on our behalf under its own privacy policy. Apple's and Google's privacy policies apply to the payment itself.
c) Crash reporting (optional, possibly in the future)
Inchly v1 does not include crash reporting or analytics. We may add privacy-respecting crash reporting in a future update to help fix bugs. If we do, it will collect only technical diagnostics (such as device model, OS version, and the error) and never your tasks, notes, or check-ins. We'll update this policy and our App Store and Google Play privacy disclosures before it is turned on, and we'll offer a setting to turn it off.
d) Contacting us
If you email us for support, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply to you and keep a record of the conversation. We don't add you to marketing lists.
e) Our website
When you visit montgomeryappworks.com, our hosting provider may process standard server information (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and to deliver the site. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party trackers on these pages.
4. What we don't do
- We don't show ads or include advertising SDKs.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we don't ask for permission to do so.
- We don't sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We don't collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or health data from Apple Health or Health Connect.
- We don't diagnose, screen for, or monitor any medical condition.
5. Safety features
If text you type into the AI breakdown or a check-in note contains language that suggests you might be in crisis, Inchly pauses and shows support resources, such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the US) and 911 for emergencies. This check happens automatically: on your device for check-ins, and as part of the same AI request for task text. It doesn't alert anyone, contact anyone on your behalf, or store anything about you. Inchly is not an emergency service. If you are in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.
6. How we share information
We share information only:
- With service providers who help us run Inchly: Cloudflare (hosting our backend), OpenAI (to generate steps), and RevenueCat (subscriptions). They may use the information only to provide services to us.
- With Apple or Google, as needed to process purchases through their stores.
- For legal reasons, if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, us, or others. Because we don't store your tasks or check-ins, we have nothing of that kind to disclose.
- In a business transfer, if Montgomery Appworks LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Any successor must honor this policy for information it receives, or tell you first.
7. Data retention
- On-device data: kept until you delete it, delete the app, or clear your browser storage.
- AI breakdown text: not stored by us. OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, as described in Section 3(a).
- Purchase records: kept by RevenueCat, Apple, and Google for as long as needed to provide your purchases and meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements.
- Support emails: kept as long as needed to help you and keep reasonable business records.
8. Your choices and rights
- Use Inchly without AI: skip "Break it down" and plan steps yourself.
- Notifications: turn reminders on or off in the app or your device settings.
- Export or delete: use Settings > Export or Settings > Delete all data at any time.
- Purchase data: email us to ask about or delete the purchase information associated with your anonymous app user ID. You'll find that ID in Settings > About. Store transaction records held by Apple or Google are managed by them.
Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Washington, or other US states, or outside the US), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or get a copy of your personal information, or to opt out of its sale, targeted advertising, or profiling. We don't sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. We don't collect consumer health data on our servers. Your check-ins stay on your device. To make a request, email justin@montgomeryappworks.com. Because we don't have accounts, we may ask for your anonymous app user ID to find any records. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our response.
9. Security
We use HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data sent between the app, our backend, OpenAI, and RevenueCat. We also keep the information we handle to a minimum. No system is perfectly secure. Protect your device with a passcode, because anyone who can unlock it can open Inchly.
10. Age requirements
Inchly is intended for adults 17 and older. It is not directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
11. International users
Inchly is operated from the United States. If you use it from outside the US, information that leaves your device (such as AI breakdown text and purchase data) is processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. If a change materially affects how your information is handled, we'll let you know in the app before it takes effect.
