Do not eat, lick, or ingest a specimen. Some minerals are toxic or radioactive. Handle unknown pieces with care, wash your hands, and avoid breathing dust. A photo identification is not guaranteed. It is not a valuation, an appraisal, or a legal decision about what you may collect, keep, or sell.
These terms cover Cleavemark, from Montgomery Appworks LLC in Oklahoma. Its title is Cleavemark: AI Rock, Crystal & Fossil ID. The bundle ID is com.montgomeryappworks.cleavemark. Cleavemark is not a children’s app, and it is not in the Kids category or Designed for Families. The age rating is 4+ on the App Store and Everyone on Google Play. The app
Cleavemark names the rock, crystal, mineral, or fossil in a photo, with ranked names, a High, Fair, or Low confidence, and a field test such as streak or hardness. A photo is not a lab result. There is no account and no ads. The collection stays on the device, including offline. Practice samples and the rock of the day are answered inside the app and do not upload a photo.
Free identifications
Three identifications are free for the life of the install. The collection, the field guide, practice samples, and the rock of the day do not use those three. A subscription removes the cap. “Continue with 3 free identifications” does not charge you.
Plans
The annual plan, product id cleavemark_annual, is $24.99 per year and includes a 7-day trial. When the trial ends, Apple or Google charges $24.99, then the same amount each year until you cancel. The monthly plan, product id cleavemark_monthly, is $4.99 per month and has no trial. $4.99 is charged today, then every month until you cancel. There is no weekly plan.
The paywall states the price and the charge before a second tap: “I understand, start the trial” or “I understand, subscribe monthly.” Purchases go through Apple or Google. RevenueCat is used when its keys are set. Web purchases do not contact RevenueCat.
Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel anytime. Apple subscriptions are managed at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Google Play subscriptions are managed at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. Deleting the app, or deleting data on this device, does not cancel a subscription. It also does not reset the three free identifications.
Refunds follow Apple and Google. Apple refunds start at reportaproblem.apple.com. Google Play refunds are described at support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637. To restore a purchase, use Restore purchases with the same Apple or Google account.
Identifications
A photo is resized on the device and sent to our Cloudflare Worker, which calls OpenAI. The app does not call OpenAI itself. The model is gpt-4.1-mini. The request sets store: false, and API data is not used to train OpenAI’s models by default. Photo bytes are not stored on our server. The Worker keeps an install-id count and a result cache keyed by a hash of the photo and the notes. The same photos and the same notes do not call OpenAI again and do not use a second free identification.
Optional notes you type are sent with the photos. They are not your GPS location. A place label from “Use current location” is saved on the device and is not sent with the photo. The privacy policy describes deletion, the on-device analytics log, and what the server keeps.
